PURSUE GOD

First and foremost, we are a people called and empowered to love God and love others (Matthew 22:36-40, Galatians 5:14). Especially for aspiring leaders, we know that love for God is foundational to obedience and relationship (John 14:15, 1 John 5:3). Therefore, we want to make pursuing God a key part of the day-to-day lives of our students. We do this through:

  • 1-hour daily devotional times
  • Weekly HMC-specific chapels
  • Encouraging the practices of prayer and fasting

Grow spiritually

Spiritual formation is being formed into the image of Christ as we allow His Spirit to control every part of his lives (2 Corinthians 3:18, Colossians 3:10).

We seek to promote spiritual formation through intentional learning. Some of the ways we do that are by offering:

  • An accredited Associates of Arts in Biblical Studies through Ecclesia College (click here to learn more)
  • Weekly personal Scripture Studies
  • Opportunity to be a certified pastor with the Assemblies of God (click here to learn more)

Additionally, we believe in the value of mentorship and biblical community for spiritual formation. Our smaller size allows our students to get to know our whole church staff, ask questions, and share experiences with those a few steps ahead of them. As well as spending time with our church staff, students will be immersed into the larger River of Life community.

Discover Purpose

We encourage our students to explore their purpose through personal reflection and participation in our tracks.

We offer three main tracks (kids, youth, and creative/worship) and three sub-tracks (marketing, missions, and technical production). Most students participate in one track and one sub-track at a time, but students may participate in more than one depending on student interest, staff availability, and calendar flexibility.

influence others

God prepares us to influence the world by inviting us into His mission to advance His kingdom and "seek and save the lost" (Luke 19:10).

During your time at Heartland, we want to give you opportunities to partner with God and influence others in a positive way. Some of the ways our students do that are through leading youth small groups, assisting with young adult ministry, helping with kids ministries, serving at various conventions, engaging with the larger ministries of the church, and more.

Additionally, our students are encouraged to go on mission trips. River of Life offers multiple mission trips each year (both domestic and international) that students are able to go on.
