At Heartland, we are dedicated to discipleship. We believe that through pursuing Jesus and growing to become more like him, students can experience a life full of purpose and impact. That is why we are intentional about creating an environment where our students can encounter and learn about the heart of God. See some of the ways we do that below.

We do this all as a response to Jesus's Great Commission: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 18:19-20 NIV)

  • Every Thursday, our Heartland students experience a chapel that is specific to them. It includes live worship (which Heartland students are often a part of) and a message by Heartland Director Dillon or a guest speaker.

  • On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, students start their day off with one hour of devotional time. They also have thirty minutes of devotional time allotted for after chapel on Thursday.

  • First, second, and third year students participate in weekly Scripture Studies. Depending on their year, students will either read through the entire Bible and take a short test on their assigned readings, do a deeper study on a specific passage, or have the opportunity to write sermon outlines.

  • All Heartland students participate in a book discussion throughout the year. Topics often include discipleship, leadership, and ministry. Discussions take place over lunch weekly as a large group or in smaller groups.

  • All of our Heartland students have the opportunity to participate in and serve at conferences throughout the school year. Some of these conferences include Thrive, Minnesota Youth Convention, other states' youth conventions, Called Conference, and District Council/EQUIP Conference.

  • We value biblical community. Our students participate in a mentorship program where they are able to have mentorship meetings with someone in the River of Life community or in their sphere of influence. They are also able to get connected with River of Life's Young Adult ministry which meets every Monday night.

MIND • BODY SPIRIT

While students are able to develop their mind through education and their spiritual life through daily devotions, Heartland has an onsite fitness center that is private to students and staff use in order to promote a physically healthy lifestyle. This gym is fully equipped and ready to use during a student's free time.
